Mary Beaney

Award winning artist Mary Beaney works in a variety of media to create artworks with a floral theme, nudes, abstract canvases and portraiture.

Mary lives close to the castle walls in Pevensey, Sussex, and it's Anglo Saxon origins and surrounding countryside provide much of her inspiration. Texture is central to Mary's paintings, and she builds up subtle layers of acrylic paint and other media before scraping back the paint to reveal colour upon colour.

Mary has successfully exhibited her paintings and ceramics throughout the UK, and her work is in collections all over the world. In 1994 she founded 'Art on the River', organising exhibitions throughout Sussex, and teaching painting.
