Simon Latimer

Photography

Simon Latimer is a self taught photographer with over 20 years experience. He has for many years processed and produced all his own work to maintain and control final image quality. Simon works with both film and digital media using a variety of cameras from the highest specification through to the most basic 'pinhole' cameras. Simon specialises largely in working with male models to produce fine art monochrome images. He works both on location and in the studio.

With every image, Simon aims to tell a story, to convey to the viewer the
moment in time which was captured. These can be from everyday
situations, to images that challenge our own perceptions and make us
take a second look. Sometimes it is necessary to be uncomfortable with
what we view around us to broaden our appreciation of society. As Simon travels a great deal with his full-time job, he always has a camera to capture the everyday story of people going about their daily lives.
Mundane can be exciting, unusual and unique in other situations.

Among his inspirations Simon lists the situational and photojournalism
of Robert Doisneau, the erotic exploration of Bob Carlos Clarke and the
timeless classics of Herb Ritts.

Simon Latimer's work has been described by German Photographer Henning Von Berg as 'Creative, Imaginative and Beautiful', a reference of which he is rightfully very proud.
