david stott

Born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire in 1938, David Cameron Stott worked primarily as a teacher of Biology at schools in the UK, Spain, the Cayman Islands and Africa. However, as a self-taught artist, David has produced paintings, canvases and woodcuts for many years, often inspired by his travels.

David has spent over twenty years living and teaching in Africa, in particular Malawi and Zimbabwe. His vibrant paintings are strongly influenced by this continent, it's people, landscape and culture. He says ' "My work can be read on one level as documentary, but the underlying stimulus for my work has always been the amazing paradox of beauty and suffering, the two sides of the African coin" '.

Since the 1960's David Stott has been staging exhibitions, with one man shows in Yorkshire, London, Barcelona, and America. His work has also represented Zimbabwe in regional exhibitions in Zambia, Botswana, and in a pan-African exhibition in Senegal. There are collectors of his works worldwide.
