jasmina boustany glass maker Born in Sussex, glassmaker Jasmina Boustany spent her early childhood on the coastline of the Red Sea, before returning to the South coast of England. She studied Glassmaking at Manchester Metropolitan University, where she graduated with a distinction. She now works from her glass studio in Lewes, Sussex. Jasmina specialises in producing one-off vessels, wall panels, tiles and lighting. She uses the Italian glass technique, ‘Murrine’ with a contemporary approach, creating a jewel like quality in unique, fresh and vibrant glass designs. Colour and pattern combine to create a strong identity within the work. She designs pieces which may provide a focal point or subtle addition to a range of environments including homes, galleries, public spaces and bars. Taking her inspiration from the Sussex coastline, Jasmina produces simple yet beautiful designs, reminiscent of Brighton rock, deckchairs, sea kelp and changes in tide. Her kiln-formed glass is produced using murine canes, and unusual opaque white glass imported from New Zealand. Jasmina continues to exhibit her glassware in galleries and exhibitions around the UK.
