Hungarian artist Victor Vasarely was one of the founders of the 'Op Art' movement. Riley and Vasarely experimented with optical illusions, and used geometric shapes, and often monochromatic colour schemes in their paintings to create the impression of movement in the eye of the viewer. Many of the Op Art images you see here were exhibited in Bridget Riley's recent major retrospective at the Tate Modern.
