His work is as much a mathematical process as an artwork and his genius certainly produced some of our most intriguing prints including 'House of Stairs', 'Drawing Hands', 'Waterfall' and 'Ascending and Descending' posters. Escher's life spent working as a draftsman and book illustrator is apparent from his his art, and primarily, he was a printmaker.
