British artist Simon Palmer draws his inspiration for this limited edition fine art print 'Mary South' from Thomas Hardy's novel 'The Woodlanders'. In the story she is a wood splitter, a maker of thatch for roofs. In this beautiful, autumnal print you will noticeher small green figure in the distance leaving behind a trail of leaves. The highly detailed, stylised trees are the main focal point of the picture. The original painting is a watercolour, ink and gouache and was painted by Simon Palmer in 1997.
