British painter printmaker Eric Ravilious is one of our best-loved British artists. The watercolour Salt Marsh was painted on a beach in Essex in 1939. A fishing boat sits on its side, pulled clear of the sea. A smaller rowing boat nestles in its shadow and clouds and sea provide the backdrop. This enigmatic watercolour typifies Eric's work - an interesting subject, a lonely scene and muted colours. It juxtaposes the natural and the manmade. Seascapes and boats were a recurring theme in Eric's work and are the subject matter for many of his most iconic paintings. Many of these were war time scenes such as his paintings of Barrage Balloons in Kent, 'Destroyers' and RAF Planes but this is a much more peaceful work. This beautiful limited edition art print is available to purchase either framed or unframed. For our full range of Eric Ravillious limited edition prints visit www.ericraviliousprints.com.
