This watercolour painting was commissioned in 1932 by Sir Geoffrey Fry at his country home Oare House, near Pewsey, in Wiltshire. The boys in their shorts and caps are picking fruit under the supervision of the gardener. The detail of the strawberry nets are carefully painted and the foliage of each of the strawberry leaves in the bed is picked out with increbible precision. We look up through the nets above to see spectral tree branches and the undulating Downs and the skies overhead to make what is, to many people, one of Eric Ravillious’ most exceptional paintings. Other popular Ravillious limited edition prints in our range include 'Westbury Horse', 'Chalk Paths' and 'Newhaven Harbour' art prints.
