'Two Women In a Garden' was originally produced as a Watercolour painting by Ravilious in 1933. The two women in question are Charlotte Bawden (fellow artist and printmaker Edward Bawden's wife) reclining in a deckchair leaning against the walnut tree in the shade along with Tirzah, Eric Ravilious’s wife, preparing vegetables. This is Brick House in Essex outside London, Edward Bawden’s large house and garden which at this point was shared by both couples This is a rare and unusually personal painting – not only is the subject winsome – reading, and the shelling or pairing of peas, but it is rare too for Ravilious to depict his friends and loved ones. Other popular Ravillious limited edition prints in our range include 'The Lifeboat', 'Chalk Paths' and 'Strawberry Nets' fine art prints. We also offer an extensive range of Edward Bawden limited edition prints.
